Pak-Suzuki has once again notified the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) regarding its non-production days schedule. The company it will keep its automobile plant shut from 19th to 21st October 2022.
The company has attributed its decision to the restriction enforced by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on the import of completely-knocked-down (CKD) kits. However Suzuki’s motorcycle plant will remain operational.
This is the 7th non-production days (NPD) schedule announced by the company since this August. It had previously halted production from August 18 to August 19 , August 22 to August 26, August 29 to August 31, September 6 to September 9, and September 19 to September 23.
In addition to Pak Suzuki, Honda Atlas is also observing plant shutdowns and has just announced to extend the schedule of its non-production days. Meanwhile Toyota is reportedly operating at 50% of its capacity due to lack of inventory in hand. Pak Suzuki however, has fared far worse than its other two contemporaries with no end in sight for either the company nor the rest of the auto industry as to when the SBP’s measures on CKD imports will be eased.
