Proton has announced that its X50 SUV has surpassed the 100,000 units sales milestone. The feat was achieved hardly 36 months after the model was launched in Malaysia in October 2020.
With over 100,200 units under its belt, this is the shortest time taken for any SUV to achieve the benchmark in Malaysia. So far during this calendar year, 26,981 units have been sold which renders a healthy sales average of nearly 2,700 units a month.
According to Proton, the X50 saw 3,787 units sold in 2020 between 27 October and 31 December, averaging 1,893 units a month. Then in 2021, production was ramped up resulting in sales of 28,774 units that year, averaging 2,397 units a month. In 2022, sales of Proton X50 clocked 40,681 units for an average monthly sales of 3,390 units. However with a 20% dip in sales compared to 2022, one may expect Proton to introduce a facelift to keep the model fresh as the SUV is already 3 years old.
