Test Units of Chery Tiggo-4 and Tiggo-8 Arrive in Pakistan

Ghandhara Nissan Limited (GNL) having inked a deal with leading Chinese automaker Chery to invest Rs 2.4 billion in Pakistan in in process of introducing a range of automobiles in our market. The investment plan include introducing hatchbacks, sedans, crossovers & SUVs. Furthermore, in line with the new Electric Vehicle Policy, the company also plans to introduce its range of electric vehicles in forthcoming years.

Now the first batch of CBU test units of Chery vehicles including the anticipated Tiggo 8 and the smaller Tiggo 4 has arrived in Pakistan. While talking to CarSpiritPK, a Ghandhara official revealed that the company intends to formally launch these vehicles either towards the end of this year of early 2022. Modification work in their plant is currently underway which will be ready to roll-out local assembled Chery vehicles later this year. The company is already requesting applications from potential 3S dealers around the country.

Among the vehicles that have landed on our soil, the Chery Tiggo-8 is a compact 7-seat crossover SUV that is powered by 1.6L turbocharged engine under its hood. The smaller Tiggo-4 on the other hand, is a 5-seat subcompact crossover which gets a 1.5L turbo engine under its hood. According to the import data, it gets a CVT gearbox to propel the wheels.

It is ranked as China’s #1 passenger car exporting brand for the previous 18 years, with exports to more than 80 markets accord the globe. The collaboration with Chery seems to have pumped a new life in GNL which was unable to materialize the Datsun project in Pakistan. And with an increased global acceptability of Chinese cars, the venture might bring fruitful results this time.
