Over the past ten years, the automotive world has bid farewell to many incredible performance vehicles, but the loss of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is one that many continue to mourn over.
After producing 10 generations of the rally-bred performance sedan, Mitsubishi discontinued the production of the Lancer Evo in 2016. Its absence has left the Subaru WRX without an arch-rival in the segment.

However, despite the Lancer Evo’s near-8-year disappearance, various artists continue to create renders that speculate on what the legendary vehicle would have looked like in the present era.

The latest example comes from designer Hycade, and his dream 11th-generation Lancer Evolution looks spectacular. The vehicle’s general form and appearance bear a strong resemblance to the Evo X. Still, Hycade has created a car that is far more aggressive than any of the previous Evo models, and if it were ever manufactured.

The car’s front end features a prominent chin spoiler, geometric air intakes, and a gaping broad black grille. Big air vents on the bonnet and a set of sharp LED headlights also draw attention. And it’s hard to miss the car’s pronounced front and rear wheel arches while seeing from the side, which enhances its dashing appearance. A set of blacked-out wheels and noticeable aerodynamic extensions on the skirts are also present. The rear end shouts Evolution thanks to a large diffuser and rear wing.

As stunning as this rendered vehicle is, it is highly improbable that the Lancer Evo will be restored. Mitsubishi is either busy making small kei cars and MPVs for selected markets or is now more focused on electrifying its crossover and SUV lineup and has shown very little interest in manufacturing performance vehicles.
