TOGG CEO Gürcan Karakaş recently shared exciting plans for the company’s expansion beyond Turkey, targeting Europe, the “heart of the automotive industry,” in 2025. Speaking at the World Road Congress in Istanbul, Karakaş emphasized that cars, like smartphones, are becoming increasingly smarter and more complex, thanks to rapid digitalization.

Responding to the question, “Do you have any plans to take TOGG outside of Turkiye?” the CEO said:
“Here, you are going to the heart of the automotive industry, which is Europe, and we are planning this for next year. What happened with the mobile phone turning into a smartphone is happening to the car right now. They are getting smarter. They are turning into a more complex device.
Although there is a bit of a question mark in Europe’s progress rates, we definitely believe in key mobility, especially because our country is in the renewable energy mix in Europe. Being one of the top countries in this regard gives us the energy and courage to be one of the leaders.”
Karakaş acknowledged challenges in electrification, including concerns over range and infrastructure. However, he highlighted significant progress in Turkey, where TOGG has helped establish over 700 ultra-fast charging stations, placing a charger every 25 kilometers in high-traffic areas. Despite uncertainties in Europe’s pace of progress, Karakaş believes Turkey’s leadership in renewable energy provides the confidence for TOGG to succeed as a key player in the European market.
