Toyota launched the Yaris Ativ facelift in Thailand in August last year, and now there is another minor model change (MMC) introduced, featuring slight visual enhancements & equipment upgrades. Bear in mind the one we have here is the pre-facelift model which was launched in Thailand back in August 2017.
Three variants are available – Entry, Sport and Sport Premium. Highlights of the changes in Toyota Yaris Ativ MMC includes:
- New glossy black front grille
- New fog lamp housing
- Redesigned front bumper
- Redesigned side skirts
- New rear spoiler
- Redesigned 15-inch alloy wheels, in brushed black/ silver color
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel
The 3 Yaris Ativ variants in Thailand
As for differences between the trims, the Entry variant gets halogen reflector headlamps, while the Sport and Sport Premium get LED multi-reflector units with LED DRLs & follow-me-home function. Side mirrors are body-colored on the Entry variant, while Sport and Sport Premium get gloss black mirrors with integrated indicators as well as side and rear skirts, acoustic glass and bonnet sound insulation. Entry and Sport variant gets a short-pole antenna while Sport Premium benefits from shark-fin. Lastly, to round up exterior differentiation, the Entry version gets steel wheels with wheel caps while the other two benefits from alloys.
Inside, the Entry variant gets fabric seat upholstery, Sport variant gets fabric and synthetic leather with grey contrast stitching, while Sport Premium trim gets synthetic leather. Interior door card trim on the Yaris Ativ Entry variant is fabric for the front armrests, while the Sport gets synthetic leather with grey contrast stitching on the front armrests; this also extends to the rear armrests on the Sport Premium variant. Gear lever in the Entry variant is of urethane, while there is leather for the Sport and Sport Premium variants.
As for instrumentation, the Yaris Ativ Entry variant has analog meter while there is Optitron setup in the Sport and Sport Premium variants. The Sport variant gains a multi-function display, with the Sport Premium getting this as a 4.3-inch TFT unit. All three variants come with the remote key, while the Sport Premium adds on Smart Entry and push-button start.

Audio equipment features auxiliary audio and Bluetooth inputs as standard on the Entry variant. Meanwhile, the Sport and Sport Premium each get a 6.7-inch touch screen with Smart Device Link as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay mobile device connectivity, with voice recognition. The Entry, Sport and Sport Premium variants get 2, 4 and 6 speakers for audio, respectively.
Further conveniences include power adjustable side mirrors which are also retractable on the Sport and Sport Premium variants, automatic illuminated entry on all variants, automatic air-conditioning on the Sport and Sport Premium, while the Sport Premium gets USB ports for the second row as well.

Standard safety equipment across all models include:
- ABS anti-lock braking system
- EBD electronic brake force distribution system
- BA brake assist reinforcement system
- VSC vehicle stability control system
- TRC traction control anti-skid system
- HAC Hill start assist system
- 7 airbags (front-side-curtain-knee)
- 3-point seat belts for all 5 seats
In addition, the Sport Premium variant adds Pre-Collision System (PCS), or autonomous emergency braking (AEB), and Lane Departure Alert (LDA). Under the hood the updated Yaris Ativ for Thailand is powered by 3NR-FKE 1.2L naturally aspirated DVVTi engine producing 92 PS at 6,000 rpm and 109 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm, paired to a Super CVT-i continuously variable transmission. Fuel economy figures are rated at 23.3 km in a liter.
The refreshed Toyota Yaris Ativ range in Thailand is priced from 539,000 baht (PKR 27.09 lac) for the Entry variant, 599,000 baht (PKR 30.11 lac) for the Sport and 674,000 baht (PKR 33.88 lac) for the Sport Premium variant.
