Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid Launched in Thailand

Toyota has launched the new Yaris Cross hybrid in Thailand. The vehicle made its debut in Indonesia earlier this year and is already being exported to some Asian and Latin American markets.

The Thai-spec Yaris Cross hybrid comes available in three variants, HEV Smart priced at 789,000 baht (PKR 59.97 lac), HEV Premium at 849,000 baht (PKR 64.53 lac), and the flagship HEV Premium Luxury at 899,000 baht (PKR 68.33 lac).

Under the hood, the Toyota Yaris Cross hybrid gets a 2NR-VEX 1.5L naturally-aspirated (E20-compliant) petrol engine good for 90 hp and 121 Nm that delivers power to the front wheels via an E-CVT gearbox. It works in tandem with an electric motor of 79 hp (59 kW) and 141 Nm. This results in a combined system output of 110 hp. The hybrid battery is a 4.3 Ah lithium-ion unit. Fuel economy is rated at 26.3 km/liter.

Speaking of variants, the base HEV Smart comes with automatic LED headlamps, LED taillights, LED DRLs, LED front fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, and synthetic leather seat upholstery. The list continues with keyless entry and engine start, a 10.1-inch touchscreen head unit (with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), a 6-speaker sound system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an electronic parking brake, automatic air-conditioning (with PM2.5 filter and rear vents), ABS, EBD, brake assist, VSC, traction control, hill start assist, 6 airbags, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and three drive modes (Power, Normal and Eco).

Stepping up, the HEV Premium variant builds upon the HEV Smart by adding 17-inch brushed dual-tone alloys, silver roof rails, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, seat upholstery featuring Quole Modure to reduce head buildup, two front parking sensors, and a front-facing dashcam. This variant also benefits from the Toyota Safety Sense suite, which includes a front departure alert, pedal misoperation control, a blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, all-speed adaptive cruise control, pre-collision safety (autonomous emergency braking), lane departure warning and automatic high beam.

The flagship HEV Premium Luxury variant gets the same amenities as the HEV Premium but with the addition of 18-inch polished dual-tone alloys, welcome lamps on the side mirrors, a fixed panoramic roof with powered curtain, a 6-speaker Pioneer sound system, a Qi wireless charging pad, a powered tailgate with hands-free access, a tire pressure monitoring system, a rear-facing dashcam, and a panoramic view monitor.

The Yaris Cross hybrid in Thailand can be had with plenty of optional extras, dual-tone colors, as well as two accessory packages, including the Urban Sport and Modellista package. Both add a body kit to the vehicle with the former also introducing additional garnishes throughout the exterior.
