Indus Motor Company is on the verge of introducing the 3rd generation Yaris subcompact sedan in Pakistan. However the launch event which was scheduled to take place on the 27th of March might get postponed due to novel coronavirus outbreak. A confirmation regarding a rescheduled date is expected to be available soon.

Still the Yaris units will be reaching various Toyota dealerships across Pakistan. These also include the special Test Drive units which will be available for potential customers to test drive the Yaris sedan at Toyota 3S dealerships across Pakistan. One of such units was spotted recently in Karachi.
A Toyota Yaris 1.3L GLi Test Drive Unit spotted in Karachi
As evident in pictures, the Test Drive unit which apparently is a 1.3L GLi model will come without alloy wheels and rear chrome garnish. It will still have matching door handles & matching side mirrors. Inside there is no multi-function steering wheel & no digital climate control, instead there are conventional rotary knobs for AC and fan operations. However there is a multimedia unit and as per reports the GLi will come equipped with 2 airbags as standard.

The company will be launching the Toyota Yaris sedan in two engine capacities– 1.3L and 1.5L thus effectively taking on the Honda City and its Aspire variants. The 1.3 liter engine is 4NR-FE unit that churns out 98hp of power and 123Nm of torque, while the 1.5 liter 2NR-FE unit punches out 106hp of power and 140Nm of torque. Both the engines will come paired to either 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox options.
The 2020 Toyota Yaris will be available in 6 variants in Pakistan, the expected prices of each are mentioned below:
- 1.3L GLi MT – 23.9 lac to 24.5 lac
- 1.3L GLi CVT – 25.4 to 25.9 lac
- 1.3L Ativ MT – 24.9 lac to 25.5 lac
- 1.3L Ativ CVT – 26.5 lac to 26.9 lac
- 1.5L Ativ X MT – 26.9 lac to 27.5 lac
- 1.5L Ativ X CVT – 28.5 lac to 29.1 lac
The flagship Ativ X variants will reportedly come equipped with Engine push start button, Climate control, Traction Control System, Hill Hold Assist, LED DRLs, fog lamps, touchscreen infotainment system, alloy wheels and exterior chrome garnish etc. Click here for more pictures of Yaris Ativ X.
After Yaris the company will shift its focus towards introducing the 12th generation Toyota Corolla in Pakistan, the test mules of which will likely arrive towards the second half of this year.
