Zeekr the premium electric brand under the Umbrella of Chinese auto giant Geely has just released the first official photos of the third product in its lineup after the 001 electric crossover and 009 luxury electric MPV. Instead of being called 003 as previously speculated, the vehicle will be called Zeekr X.
Built on Geely’s Scalable Electric Architecture (SEA) which is also used by the smart #1, the Zeekr X measures 4,450 mm long, 1,836 mm wide, and 1,572 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. While the wheelbase of Zeekr X is identical to the smart #1, overall it is longer by 180 mm and wider by 14 mm, although it stands 64 mm shorter.
In terms of styling, the X boasts a striking design with distinctive LED DRLs and a two-tier lighting setup, with the main headlamps (featuring matrix lighting technology) flanking the camera on the closed-off grille. The vertical air curtains at the edges of the bumper are accompanied by additional black trim and extend towards the trapezoidal-shaped intake in the lower apron.
The bonnet gets prominent creases, as do the sides that sport black body cladding. Looking from the side, there are hidden door handles, plus the rear door window gets a kink while the roofline gently slopes down towards a roof spoiler and a rather upright window, the latter joined by full-width taillights at its base.
Although interior images haven’t been released, the dashboard of Zeekr X as seen in spy images is styled in a minimalistic manner, with the dashboard featuring a small digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment system. The center console between the front seats is kept separate from the center stack and carries an armrest as well as storage cubbies.
Technical details are scarce for now, but according to the Chinese motoring media, the fully electric crossover will get both single-motor/ rear-wheel drive, and dual-motor/ all-wheel drive setups. Power outputs will range from 268 hp (200 kW) to 422 hp (315 kW), which are very much the same as in smart #1. The Zeekr X is expected to be making its debut at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show in April and be launched in China shortly after.
