The Maruti Dzire subcompact sedan has become the best-selling car of India in a calendar year for the very first time in 2018. For last 13 years, Maruti Alto dominated India’s annual passenger vehicle sales.

In 2018, the cumulative sales of Maruti Dzire during the year stood at 2,64,612 units. This was also the first full year of sales for its third generation model as it was just launched in May 2017. Compared to 2017 (2,25,043 units), the sales grew by 17.58%. The Maruti Alto’s annual sales fell 0.42% to 2,56,661 units (2017: 2,57,732 units).
By October 2017, within just 5 months of its launch, the Dzire crossed 1 lac units sales milestone which, according to Maruti officials is the fastest 1-lac sales mark in the Indian automobile history. A year later in October 2018, it achieved another milestone as the third generation Dzire clocked the fastest 3-lac sales mark in the Indian automobile history.

In India, the 2019 Maruti Dzire is available in 14 configurations, comprising of 4 trims, 2 engines, and 2 transmission options. Prices start at INR 5.60 lac (PKR 11.1 lac) for the base version and go as high as INR 9.45 lac (PKR 18.8 lac) for the flagship variant.
