Toyota Motor Corporation and Suzuki Motor Corporation officially come together under a new business partnership in November 2017. The Japanese auto manufacturers had first announced the intention to collaborate over new ideas back in October 2016. Now it seems the first fruits of this collaboration are about to ripen.
‘Suzuki by Toyota Kenya’ sees Toyota offering compact cars from Suzuki’s portfolio to fill the big gap below the Corolla sedan in the African nation. Under the tagline dubbed ‘Compact Confidence’, 7 Suzuki models will be sold by Toyota including Alto, Omni Cargo, Gypsy, Swift, Ciaz, Jimny and the Vitara.

Last year in March 2018, Toyota and Suzuki entered into a cross-badging agreement in India for a mutual supply of hybrid and other vehicles. As per the agreement, Suzuki will supply the Baleno and Vitara models to Toyota, while Toyota will supply the Corolla model to Suzuki. According to reports, Toyota Baleno will be launched towards the end of this year, while the Maruti Altis will likely see its debut towards the end of 2019 or early 2020.
