2020 Toyota Corolla Scores 5-Stars in Latin NCAP Crash Tests

It’s another feather in the cap for 12th generation Toyota Corolla as the car has secured full 5-star rating in the latest round of Latin NCAP crash tests.

The Toyota Corolla tested by Latin NCAP was the Brazil-spec car, which comes with 7 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) and ISOFIX anchorages as standard. It is also equipped with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) as optional equipment.

The 2020 Corolla secured 5 stars for adult as well as child occupant protection, scoring 29.41 out of a potential 34 points for adult occupant protection and 45 out of a potential 49 points for child occupant protection. According to Latin NCAP, the Corolla’s body shell was found ‘secure’ and ‘capable of withstanding further loadings.’

In Latin NCAP tests, cars go through 3 different crash tests – a front offset crash at 64 km/h, a side-impact crash and a side-pole impact test. The new Corolla fared well in all three tests, with Latin NCAP’s report endorses sufficient protection for adult occupants under all circumstances.

Indus Motor Company is in process of introducing the Yaris sedan in Pakistan towards the beginning of next year which will replace the 1.3 liter Corolla variants in Pakistan. The introduction of Yaris will make way for the 12th generation Corolla in Pakistan which will ideally be introduced either towards the end of next year of early 2021.
