Honda has officially unveiled the 11th gen Civic sedan prototype via Twitch live stream, giving us a preview of the latest generation of the company’s longest running nameplate.
As seen in the speculative renderings shared earlier, the 11th gen Civic stays true to the patent design sketches leaked earlier with a profile that’s more reminiscent to the current Honda Accord. According to the company statement:
“The Civic sedan prototype draws inspiration from timeless elements of Honda design, including a low and wide stance, low beltline, clean and sophisticated detailing, and an open and airy cabin.”
Up front, there is a a slimmer front grille flanked by LED headlights with L-shaped LED daytime-running light signatures. Below which is a large central lower air intake with gloss black mesh grille. Towards the side, the new Civic bears smooth lines letting go the sharp creases of the current model. Moreover the side mirrors have been relocated back to the doors (like 8th gen) instead of being mounted on the base of A-pillars as in the current 10th gen model.

At the rear, the 11th gen Civic loses the signature boomerang style tail lights and instead gets replaced by larger horizontally placed LED units with an L-shaped signature reminding us of the 7th gen City. A lip spoiler extends from the shape of the boot lid, while dual exhaust outlets and a faux, body-colored ‘diffuser’ trim round out the exterior elements. Plus the prototype is shown wearing 19-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance 235mm low profile tires.
Honda hasn’t revel the interior images other than a design sketch that shows a clean and minimalistic interior that tries to mimic the cleaner and straightforward designs of earlier Civic models– think 3rd gen & 4th gen interiors. Still there will be a digital instrument cluster and a floating 9-inch infotainment system mounted on top of the dashboard.
Honda hasn’t released details on the powertrain as of yet, but it did confirm the 11th gen Civic will offer “more powerful and fuel-efficient powertrains” than the 10th generation Civic. The Japanese automaker again hasn’t given details of the safety equipment other than revealing the fact that it will introduce multiple new active and passive safety systems, which might include new airbag designs (central airbags) as well as an updated Honda Sensing safety suite to improve the vehicle’s safety.
