Hyundai Tucson Creeping Up in Sales Charts

Lately the crossover SUVs have become a new craze in Pakistan, and while Kia Sportage has become the talk of the town, its cousin the Hyundai Tucson is also creeping up in domestic sales charts with some impressive figures.

Being a sister product of Sportage, the Hyundai Tucson rides on the same platform and carries the same engines as offered with its Kia cousin, just like most Hyundai & Kia vehicles. Apart from looks, both vehicles are remarkably similar in terms of equipment and off course the prices.

And while Kia isn’t a member of PAMA (Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association) so their sales are unofficially presented by third party sources, Hyundai is in fact a member of PAMA so their sales data is reflected in PAMA sales charts that are updated every month.

As of the first 7 months of this fiscal year, Hyundai-Nishat has sold 1,600 units of Tucson however it should be noted that the vehicle was introduced towards the mid of August so technically it’s been on sales for last 6.5 months only. This is almost as good as Toyota Fortuner (1,666 units in 7 months) while inching closer to match those of Honda BR-V (2,095 units in 7 months).

Not only this, the Tucson within just 6 months has already outnumbered Suzuki Swift and Isuzu D-Max in terms of sales. The Swift has managed to sell just 1,362 units in first 7 months of this fiscal year averaging 194 units a month whereas Isuzu D-Max with 171 units in 7 months sits at the bottom of domestic sales chart averaging just 24 units a month.

Available in two variants, the Hyundai Tucson in Pakistan is priced at PKR 50.99 lac for GLS FWD and PKR 55.99 lac for the flagship Ultimate AWD variant. The way Tucson is creeping up, it is soon expected to surpass Toyota Fortuner and Honda BR-V in PAMA sales charts.
