More than 3 years after the launch of 7th gen Honda City, the sedan is set to receive a facelift. We have seen pictures of camouflaged test mules multiple times already, but now for the first time, undisguised images of 7th gen City facelift have leaked on the internet.
While the 7th gen City sedan made its world debut in Thailand in November 2019, the facelift will begin its journey from India where its set to be officially unveiled on the 2nd of March 2023.

As expected, it is a minor facelift and not a major one, so the subtle changes are there to make the 2023 Honda City even more desirable. The changes include a redesigned grille with a honeycomb pattern, new alloy wheels, body-colored elements, and revised front and rear bumpers. The interiors have also been revised with many new features such as ventilated seats, a new infotainment system, and wireless Apple Carplay/ Android Auto, etc. Although we will have to wait to see if there is an upgrade in the safety systems.
The top variant is seen with LED headlamps, while the mid variant gets projector units. These images are supposedly from India, however, the RS variant which is offered in the Thai market is yet to be revealed in the facelifted guise. The 7th gen City facelift is expected to be introduced in Thailand towards the mid of this year.
Leaked images of 2023 Honda City facelift
In terms of engines, Honda will do away with the 1.5L diesel engine and will offer the 7th-gen City exclusively as a petrol sedan to meet the stringent RDE norms in India. The 2023 Honda City will be powered by a 1.5L petrol engine offering 121 hp of power, mated to either a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic gearbox. It will also get a 1.5L petrol hybrid engine making 126 hp of power via an e-CVT transmission.

The current Honda City is offered in 9 variants and is priced from INR 11.87 lac to INR 15.62 lac while the hybrid retails at INR 19.89 lac. The new City facelift is expected to be priced at a premium in comparison. Updating engines to meet the new emission norms is going to make all cars in India expensive, including the new Honda City. Upon launch, it will continue to rival Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and Hyundai Verna in the highly competitive Indian car market.
