4th Gen Kia Sorento Launched in South Africa

The 4th generation Kia Sorento has been launched in South Africa, one of the few key right-hand drive markets in the world. The 2022 Sorento will be slotted as the flagship model in Kia South Afirca’s lineup above the Sonet, Seltos and the Sportage which will be replaced by the 5th gen model soon.

Sorento is considered an important model in Kia’s product portfolio with over 3 million units sold worldwide since it was first launched in 2002. Boasting a striking new design, high-tech cabin and enhanced off-road capability, the 2022 Kia Sorento is powered by a new 2.2L four-cylinder ‘Smartstream’ diesel engine which outputs 198 hp of power and staggering 440 Nm of torque. The new powertrain reportedly weighs 38.2 kg less than that of the third-generation Sorento. The engine comes paired with a new 8-speed wet double-clutch transmission.

Plus a new Terrain Mode affords the 2022 Kia Sorento a higher level of  capability in mud, snow and sand. The Sorento which is a genuine 7-seat SUV offers up to 821-liters of luggage space with the third row stowed.

As for features, the Sorento is packed to the hilt with innovative niceties such as 12.3-inch high-resolution digital instrument cluster, and Kia’s latest 10.25- inch touchscreen infotainment system integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB ports for all 7 passengers, an optional head-up display projects turn-by-turn navigation instructions, as well as usual driver information, too.

Depending on specification, advanced assistance systems are available in the 2022 Kia Sorento such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist technology with pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle detection, Blindspot View Monitor, Around View Monitor, Blindspot Collision Avoidance Assist, Smart Cruise Control, Lane Following Assist and Driver Attention Warning systems.

The top-spec SXL AWD model adds lavish luxuries such as Bose surround sound with 12 speakers, Dual LED headlamps (high and low beam) and a panoramic sunroof amongst others.
