Air Link CEO Confirms Company Imported 2 Units of Xiaomi SU7

Air Link Communication CEO Muzzaffar Hayat Piracha has confirmed the import of two Xiaomi SU7 electric cars. However, he emphasized that any decisions about setting up an assembly plant will be influenced by market dynamics and strategic considerations. While talking to Business Recorder, Piracha said:

“We have always been at the forefront of innovation and growth. While we have indeed imported two Xiaomi SU7 electric cars as part of our continued interest in cutting-edge technology, any decisions regarding the setup of an assembly plant will depend on market dynamics and strategic alignment.”

His remarks come after a couple of Xiaomi SU7 Max units were spotted at Karachi port with reports circulating that Air Link, which also manufactures Xiaomi cell phones in Pakistan, was looking to launch electric cars in the country in partnership with the Chinese giant.

In his statement, Piracha added that several international companies, including Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers, have already entered Pakistan’s automotive sector, recognizing its importance. He highlighted Pakistan’s potential as a key market due to its strategic location and strong government support for export-oriented industries. Piracha went on to add:

“So, there is always the potential for this to happen. As a company with a deep understanding of local market dynamics, we are constantly evaluating opportunities that align with our long-term vision. We remain committed to exploring avenues that could further strengthen Air Link’s role in the technology and mobility sectors.”

Piracha did not, however, provide a conclusive answer when asked what the import of Xiaomi SU7 units might entail.

Air Link Communication, which reported a remarkable 382% profit increase for the fiscal year 2023-24, has already teamed up with Xiaomi to manufacture smart TVs at its facility in Lahore. The company is also one of two manufacturers producing Tecno phones and serves as an official partner for global brands such as Samsung, Huawei, TCL, Alcatel, and iTel. Additionally, it collaborates with GNEXT Technologies, the authorized distributor for Apple in Pakistan.
