FAW’s Hongqi brand has rolled out the EH7 pure electric sedan, the first model launched by Hongqi New Energy, a sub-brand focused on electric vehicles (EVs), since it became independent last year.
Riding on Hongqi’s electrified intelligent network technology platform (FME), the EH7 sedan measures 4,980 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. To put these numbers into perspective, the 11th-gen Honda Civic we have here is 4,674 mm long, 1,801 mm wide, 1,415 mm tall, and has a 2,736 mm wheelbase, which means the Hongqi EH7 is considerably larger than the 11th-gen Civic sedan in all dimensions and has an even greater wheelbase.
The double-spoke flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel and the asymmetric dual screen inside, which consists of a 6-inch LCD instrument panel and a 15.5-inch center control screen, are striking features of the interior. There is also an AR HUD (head-up display). A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip powers the car’s operating system. Additional setup options include ambient lighting with 256 colors that are dispersed around the cockpit’s central console, door trim, and other areas.
Available in 5 variants, the EH7 is priced between RMB 229,800 ($31,920) and RMB 309,800 ($42,875). The electric sedan comes available in three single-motor rear-drive versions and two dual-motor four-wheel-drive versions. There are 3 battery pack options with battery capacities of 75 kWh, 85 kWh, and 111 kWh, distributed across rear-wheel drive & four-wheel drive variants.
- EH7 600 Pro: rear 253 kW electric motor, 75 kWh battery pack, 600 km range
- EH7 690 Pro: rear 253 kW electric motor, 85 kWh battery pack, 690 km range
- EH7 640 Pro+ AWD: dual 455 kW electric motors, 85 kWh battery pack, 640 km range
- EH7 760 Pro+ AWD: dual 455 kW electric motors, 111 kWh battery pack, 760 km range
- EH7 820 Pro: rear 253 kW electric motor, 111 kWh battery pack, 820 km range
The rear-drive version is equipped with a 253kW (340hp) electric motor that can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. On the other hand, the dual-motor four-wheel drive versions are equipped with a 202kW (270hp) front motor and 253kW (340hp) rear motor, together they enable the EH7 to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. The Hongqi EH7 has a maximum charging power of up to 365 kW, capable of achieving 10 to 80% state of charge in 20 minutes. The vehicle can add up to 200 kilometers of range in as little as 5 minutes of charging.
