In a time when most automakers are busy enriching their portfolios with crossovers & SUVs, some still have faith in sedans— the once most popular car segment globally. One such automaker is the South Korean Kia, which has just dropped the latest teaser of the all-new K4 sedan which will come as a replacement for the aging Cerato/ Forte sedan.
The teaser provides a glimpse of Kia K4’s edgier design ahead of the official reveal on March 21, followed by its public premiere at the 2024 New York Auto Show on March 27. As seen before in the speculative renderings & prototypes, the all-new K4 features sharp lines on the pronounced fenders, sleeker LED lighting units extending to the bumpers, and a streamlined fastback-style silhouette with what appears to be an overly complex rear pillar design. The slender LED tail lights at the back extend vertically down the side profile.
Without revealing technical details, Kia says that the K4 would set “new standards for design, innovation, and driving appeal to the compact sedan segment”. The South Korean automaker also mentions “advanced technology,” which likely refers to a sophisticated digital cockpit and a range of driver assistance systems.
The 2.0L naturally aspirated engine and the 1.6L turbocharged engine are anticipated to be the available powertrain options, contingent upon the market where the sedan will be offered. Additionally, a self-charging hybrid option may be made available in some regions. Besides replacing the Forte sedan in North American markets & elsewhere, the K4 will also serve as a replacement for the Ceed and Cerato compact models in markets like Europe and Australia, respectively.
