The all-new Toyota Vios (Yaris) has finally been introduced in Malaysia after ordering for the fourth-generation model became available a month ago. The latest iteration of the subcompact sedan debuted in Thailand last year and has already been introduced in various markets across the globe.

The new Vios is built domestically at Toyota’s plant in Bukit Raja, Klang, and is offered in two variants, the E and G, with respective starting prices of RM 89,600 (PKR 56.35 lac) and RM 96,000 (PKR 60.38 lac).
Based on the new Daihatsu New Global Architecture platform, the all-new 2023 Toyota Vios measures 4,425 mm in length, 1,740 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height and spans 2,620 mm long wheelbase. Apart from badges, the Malaysian-spec Vios remains visually the same as the Thai-spec Yaris Ativ.
Exterior highlights include LED headlamps with DRLs, rear combination LED lamps, body-colored door handles, and 16-inch wheels. Differentiating the top-spec trim are a Piano black front grille, bigger 17-inch wheels, rear LED lights, and chrome detailing.
The interior, which has a black and dark brown color scheme, is equipped with plenty of niceties, including a 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster (4.2-inch TFT in the Vios E), smart entry & push start system, 9-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless phone charger, leather seats (fabric seats in the Vios E), leather steering wheel (Urethane as standard), paddle shifters, 64-color ambient lighting, automatic climate control (manual system in the Vios G) and electronic parking brake with auto hold function.

Regarding security, both variants get 6 airbags and advanced driving assistance systems including Pre-collision System, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Front Departure Alert, Pedal Misoperation Control, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Front Digital Video Recorder with Smartphone connectivity, Brake Assist, Hill Start Assist, and Parking Sensors. Meanwhile, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Control, and Auto High Beam are additional features found in the top-spec Vios G.
2023 Toyota Vios in Malaysia
Both variants of the new 2023 Vios are powered by a 1.5L naturally-aspirated Dual-VVT-i petrol engine, which produces 105 hp and 138 Nm. Power is delivered to the wheels via a new CVT transmission with 7 virtual gears that provide faster acceleration and improved fuel efficiency, as claimed by Toyota.

While the world has already welcomed the new generation Yaris/ Vios sedan, in Pakistan Toyota still sells us the pre-facelift version of the obsolete model. The facelifted version which was introduced in the rest of the markets in 2020 is yet to be introduced in our country.
