Chery has just unveiled a new rugged-looking SUV called the TJ-1. Chery use to market its crossovers & SUVs under the Tiggo brand name which already has 15 models including the upcoming Tiggo 9 flagship SUV. The new Tiggo TJ-1 will bring this number to 16. The TJ-1 stands apart when it comes to the range of Tiggo crossovers & SUVs already available, hence the different name.
The boxy SUV has a huge grille up front with CHERY written on a brick-like pattern flanked by slim two-tier headlamps. Other details include thick black bumpers with tow-hook-like thingies, squarish wheel arches with black extensions, and blacked-out alloy wheels.
Side profiles show us a floating roof with black pillars. The C-D pillar is extra wide with a body-color panel having the TIGGO name written on it. Plus there are chunky side view mirrors, pop-out door handles, the rear spoiler, and roof rails. The design of alloys in the second and third images is different than the first one, perhaps due to a different variant. The rear gets a slim connected tail light setup, a spoiler with embedded brake lamps, and a busy bumper with dual square-shaped exhausts finished in chrome.
Although Chery hasn’t released any images of the interior yet, however as seen in spy shots the interior is as boxy as the exterior. There is a multi-function flat-bottomed steering wheel, a digital instrument panel, and a large vertically oriented tablet-like touchscreen in the center. The central tunnel has a chunky gear lever, rotary drive mode selector, and an armrest along with 2 cup holders.
