After making its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, the all-electric Sterra ES sedan from Chery’s high-end brand Exeed has just been spotted in China. The Sterra ES is Exeed’s first fully electric vehicle.
The Exeed Sterra ES is built on the E0X all-electric platform and has an all-aluminum chassis design. Its dimensions are 4,945/1,978/1,480 mm and a 3,000 mm wheelbase. To give an idea of its size, the Camry XV70 that we have here is 4,890 mm long and has a 2,820 mm wheelbase, which means the Sterra ES is considerably larger than the D-segment Toyota Camry.
In terms of appearance, the Sterra ES seems to have been built using the same recipe which most new Chinese EV makers have been following. It has a slim LED connected light strip up front, a fluid design, flushed door handles, and similar full-width LED lights at the rear. Plus there is an interactive lights at the bottom to further enhance the visual appeal of the car. A lidar is located above the windshield, implying advanced driving assistance capabilities.
Inside, the design recipe continues with a minimalist theme featuring a two-spoke steering wheel, a large 15.6-inch floating touchscreen unit, and a central tunnel with a wireless charging pad. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 CPU powers the computing platform, and Huawei’s Harmony OS serves as the operating system. Furthermore, according to Chery, the cabin has more than 30 storage compartments.
The Sterra ES will be offered in two powertrain options. There will be a two-wheel drive with a single motor and a four-wheel drive with dual motors, equipped with an 800V fast charging architecture, and powered by CATL batteries. According to Chery, it has a 700 km pure electric range and a fast charging capability that can replenish 150 km of battery life in just 5 minutes.

The new Exeed Sterra ES is expected to launch in November with an estimated price range of 200,000 – 300,000 yuan ($27,800 – $41,700 USD). Once launched, the Sterra ES will take on the likes of BYD Han EV, Leapmotor C01, and Neta S in the highly competitive Chinese EV market.
