2020 Honda City Launched in India at INR 10.9 Lac

Honda has launched the all new 7th gen City sedan in India with prices starting from INR 10.9 lac (PKR 24.1 lac). The new City was scheduled to be introduced in March 2020 however the launch was postponed due to COVID-19 lockdowns.

India is the second market to have received the all new City sedan which made its global debut in Thailand late last year. Known as the most anticipated new car in India, the new City despite being 109mm longer & 53mm wider than the out-gone model happens to be lighter and more rigid than the latter, thanks to the new platform which has helped Honda to reduce weight.

The all new Honda City comes with two engine & transmission options in the Indian market. Both engines are compliant to new stringent BS-6 emission standards. There is a 1.5 liter naturally-aspirated unit that develops 121hp and 145Nm & comes paired to either 6-speed manual or CVT. ARAI certified fuel economy is 17.8 km/l for petrol manual and 18.4km/l for the CVT. The other is 1.5-liter 100hp/ 200Nm diesel that comes paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and has a rated ARAI fuel efficiency of 24.1km/l.

Features include LED headlamps, LED DRLs, 16-inch alloys, an 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with WebLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Connected Car Technology, dual zone automatic climate control, 7-inch color MID, ambient lighting, sunroof, power window, smart key, automatic headlamps and wipers, paddle shifters, keyless entry with push button start/ stop, remote engine start, Amazon Alexa connectivity and much more. The safety equipment consists of ABS with EBD, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Lane Watch Camera, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Assist and 6 airbags.

Prices of the 2020 Honda City start from INR 10.5 lac for the V petrol MT variant, going all the way to INR 13.15 lac for the ZX MT variant. CVT petrol variant prices range from INR 12.2 lac and go as high as INR 14.45 lac. Prices of diesel variants range from INR 12.4 lac to INR 14.65 lac. The new Honda City is backed by 3 years/ unlimited km warranty in India. It will go against a stiff competition from the likes of Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
