Honda Reveals the All-New Prologue EV

Honda has finally revealed the long-awaited Prologue all-electric SUV which has come to fruition as a result of Honda’s collaboration with General Motors (GM). The Prologue EV uses the American automaker’s modular electric platform and Ultium battery technology that is also found in the Chevrolet Blazer EV.

The Prologue EV is set to go on sale in North America from 2024 and will be positioned above the CR-V alongside the Passport in Honda’s line-up. The Prologue measures 4,877 mm long, 1,989 mm wide, 1,643 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 3,094 mm. In comparison, the 6th gen CR-V is 4,694 mm long, 1,864 mm wide, 1,681 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.

The Prologue was designed by Honda Design Studio in Los Angeles with the Japanese automaker saying the SUV follows a clean and simple ‘Neo-Rugged’ design direction. Inside there is an 11.3 inch free-standing touchscreen multimedia unit and another 11 inch unit behind the steering wheel acting as driver information display.

Honda hasn’t released technical information of the Prologue EV. However as per reports it will get the same setup as that of the Chevrolet Blazer EV which will be offered with a single electric motor mounted either at the front (FWD) or rear (RWD), with a third option being a dual-motor configuration for all-wheel drive. The most powerful SS variant uses an AWD setup with up 557 hp (415 kW) of power and 879 Nm of torque, offering up to 467 km of driving range. The Blazer’s RS variant however, gets up to 515 km on a single charge.

According to Honda, it will release more details of the Prologue in the coming months. The Japanese automaker has set a global goal to achieve carbon neutrality for all products and corporate activities by 2050, with 30 new EVs set to be introduced globally by 2030. The Prologue is the second all-electric vehicle after the retro-inspired Honda-e.
