Hyundai has started exporting the Made in India Exter SUV to South Africa, marking 20 years of exports to the country. The Exter joins the lineup of 7 other models, including the Grand i10 NIOS, AURA, i20, and Venue, all manufactured in India for the South African market.
The first batch of 996 units of Hyundai Exter has already been dispatched, with the SUV available in three variants for the South African market, namely: Premium, Executive, and Elite, starting at ZAR 2,69,900 (PKR 43.38 lac). It boasts features like a single-pane sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and a rearview camera.
Under the hood, the South Africa-spec Exter is powered by a 1.2L four-cylinder petrol engine producing 82 hp of power and 114 Nm of torque, available with both 5-speed manual and AMT transmission options.
Hyundai Exter has already surpassed the milestone of 100,000 sales in India within a year of its launch. The company has now also started offering Hy-CNG (Dual Cylinder CNG) and Knight Edition variants of Exter. Commenting on the occasion, Jae Wan Ryu, Function Head – Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said:
“South Africa has always been an important export market for Hyundai India, as most of the models that are manufactured at the company’s factory in Tamil Nadu are exported to South Africa. Also, 2024 is a milestone year for Hyundai India as it marks 20 years of exporting world-class products to South Africa.”
