Hyundai Ioniq 5 Wins Couple of More Awards

Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV which has already won several international awards since its debut in 2021 including the coveted 2022 German Car of the Year title, continues to grab more automotive awards. It has now been named the 2022 UK Car of the Year as well as 2022 Hispanic Motor Press Electric Vehicle of the Year.

The Ioniq 5 had already been chosen as the Best Family Car in the UK Car of the Year Awards shortlist. Some 29 judges from many different backgrounds and publications chose the innovative electric crossover to receive the title, thanks to its impressive 298-mile range, eye-catching design, exceptional fast-charging capability, solid overall performance, and much more. Judges referred to the Ioniq 5 as “the future of motoring” that has already arrived.

According to Hyundai’s press release, Editor and Managing Director of the UK Car of the Year Awards John Challen said:

“The Hyundai IONIQ 5 feels like the future of motoring, only it’s here today. The design, performance and practicality make it a fantastic proposition for those looking for an EV – and also a very worthy winner of the title ‘UK Car of the Year 2022’.”

In reference to Ioniq 5’s other award as the Best Family Car, judges noted that it makes it easy for people to switch to an electric vehicle. The all-new Hyundai electric crossover was praised for being “innovative, desirable, practical, and brilliantly designed to make full use of its electric-only platform.”

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 was unveiled in February 2021 and is built upon the company’s Electric-Global Modular Platform, also known as E-GMP. The vehicle combines performance, comfort and versatility to offer a unique driver and passenger experience. According to Hyundai Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer Thomas Schemera, “It is truly the first electric vehicle to provide a new experience with its innovative use of interior space and advanced technologies.”

At the Hispanic Motor Press Awards, jury of 23 Hispanic journalists, content creators, and influencers assess the nominated vehicles while considering key purchase drivers for Hispanic families in quality, reliability, style, safety, and value.
