Hyundai-Nishat is all set to launch their first locally assembled vehicle, the Porter H-100 commercial pickup in Pakistan. The locally built units have started to reach Hyundai’s Emporium Mall outlet in Lahore while the launch of the said vehicle is expected to take place on the 2nd of December 2019.
Powered by 2.6 liter diesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the Porter will offer a 1 ton loading capacity and will be backed by a 4-years/ 100,000 km warranty. Derivatives of this vehicle are already available in the market such as the Daehan-Dewan Shehzore and the Kia Frontier K2700 pickup.

The Porter H-100 commercial pickup is being assembled with 20% indigenization at Hyundai’s manufacturing facility in Faisalabad. The plant is developed with an investment of $150 million having annual production capacity of up to 15,000 units, will employ 250 people directly. About low localization and very few jobs, Tatsuya Sato, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai-Nishat had said earlier that localization level would be increased to 45% in the next 5 years which would eventually open new job avenues.
