Hyundai is reportedly developing an electric version of its Casper crossover city car which the South Korean automaker plans to introduce in European markets towards the end of this year.
This has also been confirmed by Hyundai’s head of France, Lionel French Keogh who also hinted that the forthcoming electric vehicle will benefit from the electric subsidy in France. The Casper EV will be competing with the Dacia Spring and the Citroen eC3 in European markets.

The prototypes are already undergoing testing as images of camouflaged test mules have already appeared on the internet. Although technical details haven’t been disclosed by Hyundai at this stage, analysts believe in order to become a success, the Casper EV should offer more versatility than a Dacia Spring, which has a comparatively modest range of up to 230 km. At the same time, the electric Casper is to remain priced at around the 20,000 euro mark.

Introduced in 2021, the Casper is currently only sold in the home market of South Korea where it comes equipped in two engine choices, a 1.0L MPI naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0L T-GDI turbocharged petrol with both engines paired with 4-speed automatic transmission.
