Jiangxi Isuzu Motors, a joint venture between Isuzu and Jiangling Motors, has launched the updated MU-X in China, priced between 178,800 yuan (PKR 30.03 lac) and 268,800 yuan (PKR 45.15 lac).
The MU-X facelift comes with a number of design revisions including new front and rear bumpers, 18-inch wheels, redesigned chrome-embedded fog lamp enclosures as well as a new grille design.

LED headlamps are now accompanied with DRLs and LED light guides within a redesigned housing. The rear taillight clusters retain their shape, but they now come with new graphics and LED guides within them as well. A nice novelty are the ‘Isuzu’ projectors located under the front doors panels.
The China-spec MU-X boasts a completely new dashboard that features a tablet-like infotainment system prominently. The 8-inch touchscreen unit comes with support for Apple CarPlay and Baidu’s CarLife connectivity, plus a host of regular media functions.

There is a new switchgear for the climate control system, as well as the redesigned gear selector, new control dial for the Terrain Command 4WD System, and a new steering wheel design. These elements, along with the faux wood dash trim, ambient lighting and Yamaha sound system, help provide the MU-X with a more premium-looking interior.
In China, 2 turbo-diesel engines are being offered with the MU-X, paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission and 2 or 4 wheel drive configurations. The new 150 PS/340 Nm RZ4E-TC 1.9 liter Ddi Blue Power engine, has replaced the 4JK1-TCX 2.5 liter unit in China. The 4JJ1-TCX 3.0 liter powerplant, which makes 177 PS and an impressive 430 Nm of torque is also available.

The MU-X is a three-row seven-seat version of the D-MAX pickup, which Ghandhara Industries Limited (GIL) is in process of launching in Pakistan most likely by April 2018. Although it’s too early to suggest anything at this stage, the success of D-MAX in Pakistan may open doors for the MU-X and perhaps that’s the reason why Indus Motors Company (IMC) is working on to introduce the diesel version of the Toyota Fortuner in 2018.
