Jetour T-3 Electric SUV Unveiled in China

Chery’s Jetour brand has just unveiled its second electric offroader in China, called the T-3 Concept. Built on the Kunlun platform with pure EV, PHEV, and EREV options, the T-3 is the second SUV by Jetour after the T-1 Traveler.

The T-3 off-road behemoth will have dimensions of 5.3 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and 1.9 meters in height, with a wheelbase of roughly 3 meters making it significantly larger in dimensions than the Toyota Land Cruiser J300. The Jetour T-3 is a four-seater because the second row only has two seats. The rear passenger doors are hinged at the back rather than the front; this design is frequently referred to as suicide doors.

In terms of design, the T-3 features a boxier styling with big bumpers, black trim, wide squarish wheel arches, and roof rails. Up front just like its T-1 sibling, is a blackened grille accompanied by LED headlamps that makes a square shape with various dashed elements. The side boasts flushed door handles, suicide doors, and monstrous wheels. At the back, there are vertically stacked LED taillights, a spare wheel mounted on the intricately designed rear door, and a rather busy rear bumper.

The vehicle will have four 250 kW electric motors, each with a 400 Nm maximum torque. Over 1300 horsepower will be available overall, and the car will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds. With a full tank and a full battery, the extended range variant (EREV), which uses ICE only to charge the battery, will have a range of 1400 km and an efficiency of 3.5 kWh/liter.

Jetour also displayed its Kunlun platform, which supports BEV, PHEV, and EREV vehicles as well as SUVs, off-roaders, and pickups and serves as the foundation for the T-3. According to Jetour, the Kunlun platform will support L4 autonomous driving. Chery’s Jetour T-1, T-3, and the Kunlun platform will also be displayed at the forthcoming Shanghai Auto Show which will open its doors on 18th April 2023.
