In the face of stagnant auto sales, local auto assemblers continue to shower numerous discounts, rebates, and add-ons to lure consumers into buying new cars.
The latest is offered by Lucky Motor Company (LMC) as it has upgraded the Kia Picanto with 2 new features. According to Kia Pakistan’s social handles, the Picanto Automatic variant is now equipped with a 9’’ MP5 touch-screen and a rear-view camera. This sees no change in price as the vehicle remains available for PKR 38.5 lac (ex-factory).
Moreover, the company is also offering a Rs. 50,000 instant cashback on the booking of a new Picanto AT. However, the offer doesn’t mention the Picanto MT variant which is priced at PKR 33.5 lac (ex-factory).
Picanto in Pakistan which is a globally retired 2nd generation model, and the least expensive in Kia’s local portfolio struggles to make an impact in terms of sales especially when compared to its rival, the Suzuki Cultus (Celerio). The small Kia hatchback is still struggling to break through, despite the fact that the comparable Cultus variant is now significantly more expensive than the Picanto.

Whether the latest offer will help Kia boost the sales of the obsolete Picanto in Pakistan, we will have to wait to find out.
