In a rather surprising move, Kia Pakistan has announced to shut down 4 dealerships across Pakistan. This was informed via a press release shared on the company’s official social handles.
Lucky Motor Company (LMC) the group behind Kia in Pakistan, has not given any specific reason regarding its decision while only mentioning the operations at these dealerships have been closed with immediate effect. The said dealerships are:
- Kia Motors Hanna Lake, Quetta
- Kia Motors Chenab, Gujrat
- Kia Motors Avenue, Dera Ghazi Khan
- Kia Motors Gateway, Mardan
Earlier this year, the company also closed its key facility in Karachi called Kia Motors Shahra-e-Faisal which was a company-operated showroom citing the expiry of the lease agreement with the owner of the premises which could not be renewed. The company highlighted its presence in major cities in Pakistan with a footprint of 35 dealerships spread across 20 cities to take care of sales, service, and spare part support.
However now with the latest announcement, Kia’s footprint has been reduced to 16 cities and nearly 30 dealerships. We will have to wait for an official statement from Kia to see whether the decision was made due to weak sales in those cities or for any other reasons.
