Kia’s latest compact SUV– the Sonet that made its world premiere in India last month has started to roll off the assembly lines at Kia’s state-of-the-art plant in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

First unveiled as a concept at the 2020 Auto Expo earlier this year, the Sonet broke all the records of single-day bookings in India and has already seen a massive craze even before its official launch that is scheduled to take place on the 18th of September 2020.
Kia has announced that the commencement of the mass production of the Sonet has been initiated after testing the vehicle for over 100,000 kilometers in different climatic conditions and some of the most challenging terrains in the country. The Kia Sonet will reportedly be sold in various global markets with India acting as an export hub for the South Korean automaker.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr Kookhyun Shim, MD and CEO at Kia Motors India, said:
Today is a momentous day for Kia Motors India, as we officially roll-out the first Kia Sonet customer car. It is a matter of great pride that we have been able to stay true to our promise of ‘The Power to Surprise’ and bring in the Sonet in time, despite the unprecedented challenges the world is facing today. The Kia Sonet is the symbol of promise and commitment of Kia to the Indian market and a testament to the passion and dedication of the employees at our state-of-the-art Anantapur plant who have worked relentlessly to ensure uninterrupted development of the new Sonet.
Upon launch, the all new Kia Sonet will go against the likes of the hot selling Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300 among others in the highly competitive Indian market. Official prices are yet to be announced however it is anticipated to range from INR 8.0 lac to up to INR 12.0 lac.
