Kia has finally unveiled the all-new EV9 as the brand’s first fully electric SUV. First appeared as a concept EV9 in November 2021, the Kia EV9 is built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) architecture and is offered in 6 and 7-seat configurations.
Although Kia has earlier shown us the exterior of the EV9, it is for the first time now that the vehicle’s interior has also been revealed. Though the EV9 retains the overall boxy appearance which was previewed with the original concept, the production version gets slightly revised headlamps, conventional side mirrors, and door handles. Meanwhile, the wheels are of a similar design as the concept but feature 4-segments instead of the 3-segment design.
The most notable thing is the ‘Digital Tiger Face’ that has been adapted from the concept vehicle, where the headlamps are surrounded by clusters of cube lamps. More importantly, this design treatment will be utilized on future breeds of Kia vehicles including the upcoming Sorento facelift as well as the Picanto facelift.
According to the South Korean automaker, the EV9’s interior was designed with space, technology, and the comfort of all passengers in mind, in keeping with Kia’s “Technology for Life” pillar of its “Opposites United” design philosophy. The EV9’s dashboard combines two 12.3-inch touchscreens with a 5-inch segment display to handle various aspects of the car’s operation while minimizing the use of physical buttons.

The center console, meanwhile, has a large storage area at the bottom of the console. A number of concealed touch buttons for the stop/start and air conditioning controls are found below the audio-visual, navigation, and telematics (AVNT) panel.
The official announcement of the EV9’s technical specifications will take place ahead of its world debut later this month, according to Kia. However, given that it shares the E-GMP platform with the more svelte EV6, the EV9 should be able to have the 800-volt electrical architecture that facilitates rapid charging. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Genesis GV60 are two other EVs on the same E-GMP platform.

With the EV6, a battery of up to 77.4 kWh provides energy for a dual-motor powertrain that delivers 577 hp and 740 Nm in GT mode; maximum performance numbers are 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h. Alternatively, the EV6 gets a 510 km range of drive range with 2WD and long-range batteries.
