Kia is in works of giving the 4th generation Sorento a facelift within 2 years of its global debut. The 4th gen Sorento was originally planned to debut in February 2020 but due to COVID-19 spread & lockdowns, the launch was pushed back to September 2020.

First set of spy images of a heavily camouflaged test mule captured near Hyundai-Kia R&D Center were leaked on the internet, and now guys at Kolesa.ru have come up with speculative renderings of the 4th generation Sorento facelift. Due to heavy camouflage, its quite difficult to examine the actual differences, but from these renderings we can still get an idea of the updated fascia, while the rear end remains unchanged, at least in these renderings.
Speculative renderings of 4th gen Kia Sorento facelift
On the inside, looking at the new updated models like Telluride or Seltos, you can expect that Kia will put the same dual 12.3-inch curved screen and equip the Sorento facelift with latest safety and tech features. Also, since Kia has closed the internal combustion engine departments, its highly unlikely that there will be substantial changes to the powertrain options. The 4th gen Sorento will likely carry on with the existing set of engines but some fine-tuning to meet the increasingly strict emission regulations is expected.

It is difficult to say when Kia plans to release this facelift but we can’t expect it to arrive in domestic South Korean market by mid 2023, with European and US-spec models possibly arriving in 2024. With the world facing semiconductor shortage and the current 4th gen Sorento suffering of 14 months wait time in South Korea, it is difficult to predict if these schedules will be fulfilled. However according to speculations, some of the orders will be delivered as a refreshed model if the supply-chain situation does not get better during 2023.
Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) launched the old 3rd generation Sorento in Pakistan in early 2021 which, despite some heavy campaigns turned out to be a marketing disaster. LMC had to offer massive discounts to push it out of the showroom floors, still the 3rd gen Sorento is unable to make any sort of impact in the market. It’s unclear whether the company has any plans to launch its replacement model, but looking at current circumstances and the economic scenario of the country, the arrival of 4th gen Kia Sorento in Pakistan seems highly unlikely.
