Iconic British brand MG now under the influence of China’s SAIC Motor took center stage at the ongoing Riyadh Motor Show as it unveiled the all-new MG Whale for the first time globally, and unveiled the new MG7 sedan regionally.
MG says both these launches showcase the company’s dedication to providing cutting-edge vehicles that resonate with the discerning tastes of customers in the Middle East and Saudi markets.
MG Whale debuted in 2022 as Roewe Jing (Whale) in the Chinese domestic market. The company describes MG Whale as a revolutionary coupe-SUV that embraces bold aesthetics featuring a distinctive whale-inspired grille and a rear end adorned with curvy hexagonal-shaped vertical lights and a full-width LED light bar atop. Riding on 19-inch wheels, the Whale measures 4,702 mm long, 1,903 mm wide, and 1,690 mm tall with a 2,765 mm wheelbase, making it very comparable to the Kia Sorento we have here.

The interior boasts a dual 12.3-inch curved panoramic screen, multi-function steering, Nappa leather-clad seats, ambient lighting, a panoramic roof, 9 speakers, and a clean, button-free design that enhances the overall driving experience. Under the hood, the 2024 MG Whale gets a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine producing 228hp of power and 370Nm of torque and comes paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The safety list comes rich with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning (LDW), HSA & HDC (hill-start and hill-descent controls), autonomous emergency braking (AEB), blind spot monitoring (BSM), rear parking sensors and a 360-degree surround camera.
