Proton Pakistan’s Website Goes Live

Proton Pakistan’s website is up as the Malaysian automaker having joined hands with Al-Haj Automotive is inching closer to launch its range of vehicles in Pakistan.

The website shows the range of vehicles initially available including the X70 SUV and Saga sedan as previously reported. Amazingly however, according to website the vehicles will be backed by 5-years/ 100,000km warranty with 3-times free labor service.

As exclusively reported by CarSpiritPK earlier this year, the Saga will come equipped with a downsized 1299cc engine under the hood to best comply with local tax structure. It will be available in Standard & Premium variants with former available with 5-speed manual & 4-speed auto whereas the latter will come equipped with 4-speed automatic transmission only.

The Saga will come rich in features & equipment with standard features including dual airbags, ABS with EBD & BA, rear parking sensors, pre-tensioned seatbelts, ISOFIX child seat anchorage and engine immobilizer. The higher-spec variants will benefit from LED DRLs, multi-function steering, 7-inch multimedia unit, ESC, TCS, front parking sensors & reversing camera.

As previously reported by us, the X70 will have the award winning 1.5L turbocharged engine under its hood that was co-developed by Geely and Volvo. More powerful than that of Kia Sportage & Hyundai Tucson, the engine will come paired to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission with both 2WD and 4WD systems on offer.

Salient features will include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD & BA, auto brake hold, ESC, TCS, hill hold assist, hill descent control, reversing camera, 8-inch touchscreen multimedia unit with voice command & engine immobilizer as standard. Depending on the variant, the higher spec versions will get AEB (autonomous emergency braking), FCW (forward collision warning), ACC (adaptive cruise control), LDW (lane departure warning), blind spot monitoring, door open warning, intelligent high beam control and TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system).

Both Saga & X70 being awarded with Malaysian Car of the Year award offer rich configuration of safety & convenience features for the Pakistani market and will be priced competitively as per available information. The Proton X70 is likely to go on sale in December 2020 followed by the Saga sedan most likely towards January 2021.
