Its the beginning of the latest round of price hikes and has been started by the automaker having the least presence in the market. Al-Haj Proton has jacked up the prices of all variants of Saga as well as X70 citing increasing dollar rate, and rising shipping & raw material costs. The new prices are effective immediately, from the 22nd of June 2022.

The price of Proton Saga has been increased by a whopping Rs 230,000 after which the base 1.3L MT variant now cost PKR 25.79 lac, the 1.3L AT variant now retails at PKR 27.29 lac whereas the flagship Saga Ace AT is available for PKR 28.49 lac. On the other hand, the price of X70 has been jacked up by Rs 650,000. With this the X70 Executive AWD variant now cost PKR 60.5 lac whereas the flagship Premium 2WD variant is available for PKR 64.0 lac.
Although local assembly operations have finally kicked off, Proton is still facing a huge backlog of deliveries for the X70 which was launched way back in December 2020 and Saga that was launched in April 2021. Several customers are waiting for over a year to get the delivery of their booked units however during this period prices of Proton cars have been increased multiple times already. According to latest information, the company sold just 6 units of X70 in May 2022 and around 330 units of Saga.
