Proton has launched the Saga MC2 (minor change #2) in Malaysia with a visual nip-and-tuck, and some new features. This is the second facelift of the current generation Saga which is around since 2016 and received its first facelift in 2019 after coming under Geely’s umbrella.
The Saga MC2 has also seen an inclusion of new top-spec variant in the lineup called Premium S, which enjoys most of the new features offered with the facelift. All variants are backed with 5-year/100,000 km warranty package. The 2022 Proton Saga facelift in Malaysia is priced as:
- 1.3 Standard MT: RM 34,400 (PKR 14.95 lac)
- 1.3 Standard AT: RM 38,300 (PKR 16.64 lac)
- 1.3 Premium AT: RM 41,300 (PKR 17.94 lac)
- 1.3 Premium S AT: RM 44,300 (PKR 19.25 lac)
Changes to the exterior are minimal, the most noticeable being the new Proton roundel logo up front. Bear in mind Saga was still wearing an old Proton logo which was ditched in 2019. Plus the signature “Ethereal Bow” strip below the grille no gets a kink right underneath the logo, also the strip is offered as red in Premium S variant and chromic in other variants. There are new set of 15-inch alloys which comes as dual tone in Premium S and monotone in other variants. Other changes include side skirts (offered in Premium S only) while the chrome strip on the lower half of rear bumper has been removed in all variants.

Inside, all variants of the Saga receive a new air-condition panel, with two smaller knobs on both sides instead of the three-dial layout of the pre-facelift model. There is a new operating system for the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system bringing with it more colorful screens & support for phone mirroring for both Android and iOS devices. Other than that red touches have been added on the center stack, instrument cluster, air vents, and steering wheel along with new seat covers but these are restricted to the Premium S variant only. Lastly, there is a new boot release button too.

The addition of keyless entry and a push start button have been made to the Premium S variant only. Saga’s safety suite remains unchanged, with all variants getting two front airbags, as well as standard anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and brake assist (BA). Electronic stability control (ESC), traction control (TC), and hill-hold assist (HSA) are now available on the 1.3 Standard AT variant and above, while the Premium and Premium S variants add on front parking sensors and a reversing camera. Engine and transmission options remain unchanged as well, in form of 1.3L (1,332cc) unit and 5-speed manual/ 4-speed automatic gearbox.
