The Proton X90 has made its official debut in Bangladesh. The flagship hybrid SUV is initially being marketed as a CBU import, while the local assembly is scheduled to begin by the end of this year.

The Malaysian automaker has teamed up with Rancon Cars Limited, the sole distributor and producer of Proton vehicles in Bangladesh. Bear in mind Proton has previously conducted local assembly operations in Bangladesh having assembled the Preve sedan there in 2017.
The X90 in Bangladesh is available in two variants– the 7-seater Premium variant retailing at BDT 45.90 lac (PKR 116.85 lac) and the 6-seater Flagship variant retailing at BDT 49.90 lac (PKR 127.04 lac). Both variants are powered by a 48V mild hybrid system, which includes a 1.5L turbocharged engine that outputs 190 hp of power and 300 Nm of torque. The vehicle is backed by a 5-year or 150,000 km warranty (whichever comes first) with 6 free after-sales services.

After launching the X90, Proton also intends to expand its portfolio in Bangladesh. Speaking at the launch event, Li Chunrong, the CEO of Proton said:
“Proton is confident that Rancon Holdings is the perfect partner for us to be successful. They are already establishing a sales and after-sales network and will invest in a manufacturing line to locally assemble Proton vehicles in Bangladesh. With more offerings coming in the near future, as well as Proton’s commitment to support all facets of the partnership, we look forward to being a major player in the country’s automotive market.”
