Remember Rinco Aria? The mini EV that was launched in 2022 by Nayyar Motors touted as Made in the USA will now be sold by Regal Automobiles, badged as the Volt EV.
Now if you are a regular reader of CarSpiritPK blogs, you must remember the Volt City EV, the Rinco Aria lookalike that was launched in Thailand the same year. Interestingly, according to the Thai company (EV Primus), the EV was developed by three leading Chinese companies including Dongfeng Motor, Zhengzhou Nissan, and Beijing Hongrui Automotive Technology.

Dongfeng happens to be the parent company of DFSK, and Regal Automobile is their licensed distributor in Pakistan. So it makes sense why this EV is now under the umbrella of Regal/ DFSK.
Now keep connecting more dots. As mentioned in our earlier article, a Regal Auto official during the unveiling of the Seres 3 EV informed us on the condition of anonymity that the company is planning to introduce a small 4-door electric hatchback in Pakistan that will be priced lower than the GiGi EV— a 2-door EV mini displayed at PAPS 2023.

According to initial information, the price will be around PKR 40.0 lac (GiGi EV is PKR 46.5 lac), and while initial units are being sold as CBU, local assembling of Volt EV will begin towards the middle of this year. In Thailand, the 4-door variants of Volt EV get a 34 KW permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 46 hp and peak torque of 102 Nm.
The motor works in tandem with a 16.5 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery that requires up to 6 hours to fully charge. These configurations are likely to remain true for the ones sold in Pakistan. The running distance per charge is up to 200 km whereas the top speed is claimed at 105 km/h.
The Volt EV is available at different dealerships of Prince / DFSK across Pakistan with a test drive also offered. Booking for CBU units is currently open, with immediate delivery available. Pre-orders for the CKD units can also be placed with deliveries set to commence by mid-2024.
