Sazgar Engineering Works Limited has been awarded the ‘Category-A Greenfield Investment status’ by the Ministry of Industries & Production of Pakistan, according to company a notification sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). The notification reads:
“We are pleased to inform you that the Ministry of Industries and Production of Pakistan has awarded the Category-A ‘Greenfield Investment status’ to our company and approve Great Wall Motors Company Limited as the second principle for the assembly manufacture of GWM HAVAL vehicles in addition to BAIC vehicles.”
The company already has the Greenfield status for the BAIC project and was supposed to introduce a range of BAIC passenger vehicles in the country, but so far there is a complete silence on that project.
The company has so far introduced Haval H6 and Jolion SUVs as CBU which, with an increase of Rs 200,000 in price are available for PKR 64.95 lac and PKR 57.25 lac respectively. However bookings of the vehicles are currently closed due to limited availability of stock amid global supply chain issues. Sazgar expects to commence commercial production of GWM HAVAL vehicles in Pakistan by June 2022.
