The dream run of 11th gen Toyota Corolla in Pakistan continues in April 2022 as well. The aging sedan which is now about to enter its 9th year of production in our country was able to be the highest selling sedan of the country for 7th consecutive month.
Although, Indus Motor Company (IMC) has stopped disclosing individual sales of Corolla and Yaris from January 2022 and is now presenting as a combined figure just like Honda does with the Civic and City since 2014, due to diminishing sales of Yaris which has lost its plot against the likes of Changan Alsvin and 6th gen Honda City. Bear in mind the Yaris between May 2020 and September 2021 was the highest selling sedan in Pakistan before Corolla regained its lost title from October 2021.
According to the data released by PAMA (Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association), IMC sold 5,775 units in April 2022 including Corolla, Yaris, Hilux and Fortuner. Honda Atlas on the other hand saw 2,629 units sold with Civic, City and BR-V combined, which means Honda sold 54% less cars than Toyota last month. Thanks to Auto Journal, it is clear that Corolla was the highest selling sedan among the lot with 2,462 units under its belt, compared to 1,655 units of Yaris, 1,200 units of City and 1,065 units of Civic in April 2022.

Toyota Corolla has been enjoying the status of being the highest selling sedan in Pakistan for over 25 years before it was dethroned by Yaris in 2020. However since October 2021, the sedan has regained its sales momentum to snatch its title back from Yaris. Currently the sales of Corolla are almost 48% higher than the more affordable Yaris sedan.
This also renders the fact that Corolla technically has no rival in its price range, whereas Yaris is facing stiff competition from Honda City and Changan Alsvin. Although Hyundai launched the Elantra sedan with 1.6L engine which competes directly against the Corolla Altis 1.6L, still the sales numbers are nowhere near to be considered as a threat to the Corolla. Sales of Elantra in April clocked at just 240 units.

Pakistan is probably the only market in the world where the 11th generation Toyota Corolla is still being assembled, keep in mind the 12th gen model that debuted back in November 2018 is more than 3 years old already and has started to receive a facelift in global markets. The 11th gen Corolla is in 8th year of production in our country already and has sold more than 0.32 million units since it was introduced here in June 2014, but with soaring sales its highly unlikely that IMC will bring the new 12th gen model here anytime soon.
