The 2024 facelift of Kia Sonet, which went on sale in India in January this year, has just surpassed the 100,000-unit sales milestone. The feat was achieved within 11 months of its debut with an average monthly sales of over 10,000 units. Interestingly this is almost similar to the collected number of all cars sold by PAMA in the same period.
According to Kia India, 76% of Sonet buyers opted for the petrol variant, while the remaining 24% chose the diesel option. Notably, 79% of Sonet sales come from variants featuring a sunroof. Additionally, models equipped with the iMT or automatic transmission account for 34% of total sales, reflecting the growing demand for automatic vehicles.
The Sonet facelift, available in 22 variants with petrol and diesel options and a range of gearboxes, combines SUV versatility with modern, feature-rich offerings to suit a wide array of preferences. Engine options include a 1.2L MPi producing 82 hp, the 1.0L T-GDi producing 118 hp, and the 1.5L CRDi diesel producing 114 hp. All versions are front-wheel-drive, with three different transmission options depending on the powertrain.
The 2024 Kia Sonet in India comes equipped with a range of standard safety features, including 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), rear parking sensors, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), speed-sensing auto door locks, impact-sensing auto door unlock, and three-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats. Higher variants enhance safety with Level 1 ADAS features such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), High Beam Assist (HBA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), and Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA).
The Kia Sonet in India is priced from INR 7.99 lac for the base variant and goes as high as INR 15.77 lac for the most equipped variant (all priced ex-showroom).
