The all-new Suzuki Swift has been the talk of the town since its introduction into the Japanese market. So far, however, all of the images that we have seen on the internet were of fully equipped models; but what about the lower-spec variant?
Well, you don’t need to wait any further because we are now going to look at the Japanese-spec XG version, and this is what you will receive if you opt for the base model of the new Swift.

In terms of exterior, the base XG variant loses out on chrome plastic inserts in the grille and both front & rear bumpers. There is also no rear spoiler or door protectors and the vehicle comes equipped with 15-inch steel wheels with covers as a part of the package. Although, there are LED headlamps and DRLs across the range but no fog lamps in this base model.

Inside, the steering wheel comes without chrome inserts and the upholstery is full-black as opposed to dual-tone black/ silver for the higher-spec variants. There is no center armrest or climate control system in this base variant. The touchscreen infotainment system and Suzuki Connect telematics with a 9.0-inch display and 6 speakers are optional and priced at ¥121000 as an add-on. There is no 360-degree camera or level-2 ADAS included in the deal even as an add-on. All versions get 6 airbags, reverse parking sensors, and ABS with EBD.

Under the hood, the base version gets the new 1.2L three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 81hp/107Nm and comes with a CVT gearbox. There is no mild-hybrid option available in the base variant. Fuel economy figures are 23.4km/l for the 2WD and 22km/l for the 4WD models.
The new Swift has already been revealed for European markets which slightly differs from the Japanese variant in terms of aesthetics & features a mild hybrid powertrain, whereas the launch close to our home, is supposed to take place towards the middle of next year in India.
Pakistan received the current generation Suzuki Swift, too late in February 2022, which is still less than 2 years old in our market. It’s highly unlikely for us to witness the arrival of a new model in our country, as we might have to wait for the all-new Swift to become obsolete & replaced by a next-generation model, to welcome the one in pictures here.
