Chery Releases Official Images of New Jetour Traveller SUV

Chery has released official images of its new Traveller SUV (formerly known as the T-1), ahead of its expected debut at the 2023 Shanghai Motor Show scheduled to open doors in April.

The Traveller SUV is positioned under the Jetour sub-brand which makes stylish cars aimed at a young audience. Jetour is expanding fast with currently 13 different SUVs in its portfolio including one fully electric one.

As seen in previous prototype images, the Traveller SUV looks inspired by Ford Bronco and Landrover Defender and features bold & rugged styling with plenty of off-roading cues such as bulging squared-off wheel arches and roof rails that have handlebars on them. The SUV proudly wears the Jetour branding up front with fascia featuring LED headlamps that are made up of 6 separate units.

The side boasts flushed door handles, a floating roof design and large intricately designed alloy wheels. The back of the Traveller is very upright and has a square spare tire housing mounted on the side-opening tailgate.

Inside, the Traveller gets an octagonal steering wheel and large vertically oriented outer air vents. There is a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a driver monitoring system on the A-pillar. The central tunnel has a hefty gear selector, accompanied by a radial off-road drive mode selector, while the seats seem to have leather and suede upholstery.

The Jetour Traveller will be available with petrol and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. There will be a 1.6L turbocharged petrol unit with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission, as well as a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine assisted by an electric motor. All versions of the Jetour Traveller will have a mechanical four-wheel drive system with a differential lock.

Prices are expected to range between 149,800 yuan to 206,800 yuan ($21,512 – $29,698 USD). The Jetour Traveller will go on sale starting from the Chinese market after making its debut at the 2023 Shanghai motor show in April.
