Chery, a leading Chinese automaker, is preparing to part ways with GAL (Ghandhara Automobiles Limited- formerly Ghandhara Nissan Limited) as it plans to join forces with a new partner to continue its operations in Pakistan, CarSpiritPK has learned from a reliable source.
According to the information, Chery is here to stay as it is in the process of forming a new partnership with a financially strong ally, the formal announcement of which is expected to be made soon. Besides its Chery-branded vehicles, the automaker plans to introduce its sub-brands, Omoda and Jaecoo, in Pakistan as part of an aggressive launch strategy for 2025.
Our sources within the company reveal that Chery was dissatisfied with Ghandhara, especially regarding its sales and after-sales support. The two parties had a four-year contract, which ended in December 2024, and Chery chose not to renew it.
Bear in mind Chery having partnered with Ghandhara unveiled the Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro SUVs in Pakistan in December 2021, however, the SUVs despite everything good were unable to make a significant impact in the local market. Now with the principal company shifting its partnership, it is expected that Chery will make a strong comeback in 2025. Stay tuned to CarSpiritPK for more updates.
