The new Honda E Prototype has been revealed ahead of its official debut at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2019. The retro styled vehicle will go into production later this year, after which it will be available for purchase first in Europe, followed by other markets.

The unveiling of this near-production prototype follows the Japanese brand’s debut of the Urban EV Concept back in 2017, and its camouflaged test mule was caught testing in December 2018.
Honda promises the new rear-wheel-drive vehicle will feature “engaging driving dynamics” and deliver a package “perfect for the urban environment”. The prototype boasts flush “pop-out” door handles and compact cameras replacing traditional side mirrors, while the charging port is integrated centrally in the bonnet for ease of use from either side of the car. Honda says both the door handles and camera system “are unique features for a vehicle in this class.”
Inside there is a spacious cabin despite compact proportions, featuring a customizable multi-screen horizontal display dominating its refreshingly uncluttered fascia. The retro styled interior very much reminds of the interior of first generation Honda Civic of the 1970s (pictured below).
According to the company, the vehicle will be Honda’s first compact car on a dedicated EV platform. Honda claims it will deliver a range of over 200 km and a “fast charge” functionality of 80% battery charge within 30 minutes.
