Jeep Has Now Sold 5 Million Wrangler Models

The Jeep Wrangler has gained a devoted following among off-road enthusiasts around the world. Wrangler, which pays homage to the legendary Willys, the vehicle that served as the inspiration for the spirit and soul of the Jeep brand, has now sold its 5 millionth unit since its introduction in 1987.

The fortunate five millionth unit owner, who resides in Camden, New Jersey, will receive $5,000 worth of Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) by Mopar and lifetime Jeep Wave customer care benefits, which include scheduled maintenance, admission to only Jeep events, and committed customer service.

The first Wrangler, known as the YJ, rolled off the assembly line at the American Motors Corporation factory 37 years ago, marking the starting point of the vehicle’s journey. With 630,000 units sold between 1987 and 1995, the YJ was a resounding success. It paved the way for succeeding generations, such as the TJ in 1996, the JK in 2006, and the JL in 2017.

The Wrangler 4xe Plug-in Hybrid made its debut in Europe in 2021 and won honors for its effectiveness, economy, and sustainability. This electrified version generates an impressive 375 hp of power and 637 Nm of torque thanks to the combination of a 2,0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and rear electric propulsion. Additionally, it offers a fuel consumption rate of 28.5 km per liter and an all-electric range of up to 53 km in urban areas.

The Stellantis-owned brand has confirmed plans for several fully electric vehicles in the near future, including the Wrangler, even though both the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee are currently offered as 4Xe plug-in hybrids. The automaker guarantees that its products will continue to deliver the same experience and off-roading capabilities regardless of their mode of propulsion.
