Next Gen China-Spec Honda City can be an Inspiration of the C001 Concept

Honda had introduced a design study at the 2017 Qingdao Auto Show in September last year. It’s called the Honda Design C 001 concept, and will reportedly form the basis of the Next generation China-spec Honda City.

The Honda Design C 001 was designed by the same team that created the Honda Crider and Honda Gienia in China. The Crider was launched in China to be slotted between the Civic and Accord, while the Gienia is essentially a Honda City hatchback with cosmetic differences.

The C 001 concept previews a long four-door coupe. At the front, it has slender LED headlights, a large “H” logo in the centre, pentagonal side air vents and a black trim that falls from the outer ends of the headlamps to form a chin by meeting at the middle of the lower bumper. There’s no radiator grille, suggesting the design is possibly for an EV.

At the sides, the Honda Design C 001 looks like a typical low-slung 4-door coupe. It has a very narrow greenhouse and a floating roofline. At the rear, the large C-shaped tail lights appear inspired by the tenth-gen Honda Civic, and they are connected to each other in a way similar to the headlights.

Off course the production version will be a lot different from the presented concept, perhaps Honda might take some part of it for the next-gen Greiz, which is made by Dongfeng-Honda, being the sibling of City manufactured by Honda’s other joint venture in China, the Guangzhou-Honda.

The Honda City is in its 6th generation which was introduced back in 2013 and will complete its 6 years lifespan by 2019. Reportedly Honda is working on the 7th generation City which will be revealed towards the end of 2019 or early 2020.
